Database integrationNational Instruments recently announced the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset, a major upgrade to the LabVIEW SQL Toolkit. With the software, engineers and scientists can connect to local and remote databases from their LabVIEW measurement and automation applications without complex structured query language (SQL) programming.
The Database Connectivity Toolset incorporates the latest technology, including Microsoft ADO (ActiveX data objects) and XML (extensible markup language), to deliver high-speed performance with low memory overhead.
The new toolset is organized with easy-to-use function libraries for executing database operations within LabVIEW. With the toolset, engineers and scientists can easily create a framework to manage test data including operator names, test times, and test results. Using a database with LabVIEW simplifies tasks such as storing and retrieving test information for offline processing, documenting a large series of different tests, and reusing data across different operational departments.
