Profibus interfacesBalluff’s Micropulse magnetostrictive linear transducers are available with Profibus-DP integrated interface. With a single transducer it is possible to detect the position of one, two or four axial movements. In the case of one of two movements to be checked, the transducer can provide also the speed data, as well as the position data.
Basically it is a length measurement system already set up to be interfaced with Profibus-DP. The maximum cyclical time for data transmission, is of 1 ms. With a 5 IJm resolution (1 IJm High Performance transducer) for the position and O, 1 mm/s for speed, these transducers can be used for high resolution detection of position.
The programmable parameters, as for example resolution, zero point and operating field, can be modified through the BUS, with the aid of GSD files. The automatic recognition of the Baudrate, by the transducer, guarantees an automatic operation in the current Profibus system, with Baudrate between 9,6 kBit/s and 12 Mbit/s. The address attribution of the node takes place through DIP-Switch or, upon choice, can be parameterized via Software. 3 connectors are used: BUS in, BUS out and power supply. Both BUS lines can be connected via cable Standard Profibus with the MB connector.
