Virtual manufacturing
Machines are becoming ever more intelligent and it's always easier to service them. Since they are equipped with web-compatible diagnosis internal systems, in case of any problems the machine themselves can request servicing.
Another example is the computerized workshop trolley, which receives new signals while carrying out a job and through GPS it prints the following path autonomously requesting the necessary parts with just-in-time delivery. Virtual manufacturing, that is the creation of a virtual system that goes from the machine to the production of prototypes until the production processes and the fulfillment of the logistic part, is in the order of things.
Basically, it is possible to simulate and virtually represent on the computer with great realism all production stages. The result of these processes is a growingly faster and simpler production of goods with consequent manufacturing of new products or small series at lower cost - the key words in these processes are "Rapid Prototyping" and "Rapid Tooling". The design of prototypes from the initial idea to their practical manufacturing literally makes imagination tangible. Thus it becomes possible to immediately produce the three-dimensional print of a sample directly form the drawing. May.2002
