Intel processor in cars

Intel, the world's greatest chip constructor and of the major suppliers of personal computing, networking and communication market products, has lately proven to be interested in the wireless market, especially as far as mobile technology is concerned. The American company has declared that it is developing new processors for digital control and communication systems to integrate in cars.

The PXA250 and PXA210 application processors are designed based on Intel's XScale technology, and are targeted for use in wireless portable devices such as cellphones, PDAs, and telematics systems. Fabricated on a 0.18µm CMOS process, both processors are aimed at complementing the company's StrongARM SA-1110 processor.

The 400MHz PXA250 delivers advanced integration and improved power savings for high-end wireless portable devices, while the PXA210 runs at 200MHz and is positioned as a solution for entry-level handheld products. Both also offer scalability to 1GHz.
