Lan for service providers

Low-cost technology that enables telecom carriers to deliver an Ethernet transparent LAN connection service between sites over existing synchronous and plesiochronous digital hierarchy (SDH/PDH) networks has been developed by the British company, Pinacl Communication Systems

An inverse multiplexer 9R0810 card, is located at the E1 termination point of each customer and converts local Ethernet LAN traffic into one or more industry-standard E1 circuits.  These connect to the local SDH/PDH node to provide a high-speed, distance-independent, managed transparent LAN link.

The card can support up to five fully independent E1 circuits and is managed from the carrier's network management
