Baumann Ferco, manufacturer of board handling systems and machines for the assembly of printed circuits, has introduced the new MAC 2 platform for the automated assembly of odd components (components with irregular shape such as connectors, transformers, bobbins etc. that cannot be processed by normal machines for automatic assembly). As well as for the assembly of components, the system can be used for the laying of glue, welding point by point and assembly of light mechanical parts.
It is a general purpose assembly platform, based on a four high precision axes Cartesian manipulating robot. Owing to this solution, each MAC 2 unit becomes a relatively simple and economical module, destined to deal with a limited number of components. For more complex applications, that require the assembly of many particular components, various MAC 2 units can be used in series on the same line.
The machine reaches a speed of 1.800 components an hour and can be equipped with a wide range of tools and power supply systems.
All functions and parameters are governed by a relational graphical database, compatible with Windows 98/NT/2000, which (with its personal computer) is also used as a man/machine interface which makes the connection with a mainframe or a CAD system.
