The importance of Gas
The great importance of gas for Europe emerges from the works of the Hannover fair. This ecological alternative for energy will at first concern Germany. From available figures we learn that electric current will ever more often be produced, in Germany, with the natural gas which for about a third will derive from Russia (the greatest gas reserves on earth are in the Russian underground). Natural gas contributes today for about 20% of German consumption of primary sources of energy and this need tends to increase.
Among the advantages of natural gas as energy supply source there is the relatively low content of harmful substances and the high degree of efficacy in the combined gas and vapor plants, in those with block heating (BHKW) and finally, in particular, in fuel cells. May.2002
