The transaction for the fusion between Trinity Industries and Thrall car manufacturing company was perfected, and a new company is born, Trinity rail group Inc., a manufacturing structure reserved for the supply of the complete range of applications and solutions for the railcar market.

Trinity rail group Inc.'s management is made up of a mixed board of senior administrators from the manufacturing departments both of Trinity and of Thrall; for the role of managing director Michael E. Flannery, ex vice president of Thrall, was named, who will be the reference for four operating units: Trinity freight car; Trinity rail components & repair;  Trinity tank car and Trinity rail Gmbh and will use plants in Europe and the United States.

The project of the fusion was determined by the choice of valorising and harmonising in a single structure the professional competencies and the different manufacturing and product technologies of the two companies, for a re-qualification of the quality of offer to the market.
