Italians in Michigan
The Michigan State hosts the greatest world centre of the automotive industry and offers new business opportunities to components corporations that want to settle in its territory, in the shape of tax exemption and facilitated credit.
To this end, Michigan has created 11 renaissance zones, area where companies needn’t pay any type of tax, and where they obtain the concession of facilitated credit and legal assistance modules, as well as the cooperation with a structure that follows the company throughout all of its bureaucratic course.
An opportunity that Italian and Piemonte companies, particularly those that used to be connected to Fiat, have no intention of missing considering the optimistic forecasts that certify for year 2001 a production in the States of 17 million cars compared to the 60 million cars that will leave assembly lines in the rest of the world.
The future of the sector lies in giving more value to the lighter and newer materials for cars; electronics; safety; navigation systems; emission and sound reducing systems; long duration components; mixed goods transportation.
An example of the advantages deriving from this type agreement: the combined action of Ford - Michigan Jobs Commission – Torino Chamber of Commerce in the search for qualified Italian suppliers from the organisational-technological point of view.
