Agustawestland goes to Sweden
Finmeccanica got granted a new production order in Sweden for NH90 helicopters manufactured by AgustaWestland within the NHI Consortium (Eurocopter 62,5%, AgustaWestland 32%, Fokker 5,5%).The order comes a few days after those acquired by the governments of Finland and Norway for the same helicopters, as well as the order from the Danish government for the EH101s manufactured by AgustaWestland (50% Finmeccanica and 50% GKN) of the last 13th September.
The overall value of thee orders, for the part that belongs to Finmeccanica, is estimated around € 315 million for a total of 52 NH90 units, commissioned respectively by the Swedish (18 helicopters), Finnish (20) and Norwegian (14) Defense Ministries.
The EH101 production plan, already sold in Great Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan, started its development in 1994, entered the production stage two years later and starting in 1997 has already succeeded in the sale of 98 models, 16 of which to third party countries.
The new orders will reinforce, probably within the end of year 2001, AgustaWestland’s order portfolio which, to the 30th of June 2001 was equal to € 7 billion, of which 50% belonging to Finmeccanica’s responsibility.
