Tecnimont, the engineering and construction company of the Montedison Group, has signed a contract with AK-Sibur, a company controlled by Gazprom, the greatest petrochemical industrial group of Russia with important participations in Hungary and in other countries of Eastern Europe. This contract s for the licensing and supply of engineering, equipment and materials, as well as technical assistance, for the creation in Kstovo (Nizhniy Novgorod) of a plant for the production of 120.000 tons of high density polyethylene.

With this agreement, of the value of about 90 million euro, Tecnimont consolidates its position of leading contractor in polyolefin and in the Russian market.

The plant, which will be ready in about 30 months, will adopt the Hostalen technology licensed by Basell, a Basf/Shell parenthetic company leader in the production of polyolefin and will produce natural density and color polyethylene that is particularly suitable for the manufacturing of gas and liquid pipes as well as fine packaging film.
