From Wisconsin... to Europe 

Johnson Controls Inc., leader in management and control systems for the car-manufacturing sector, has announced the decision of acquiring Sagem SA, a French group in the sector of high-technology car electronics. The transaction will be concluded in October 2001, further to reception of approval for the obligatory regulations.

The company, based in the Wisconsin state, has declared that it will give out 435 million dollars (500 million euro) in cash for the operation and that they will put forward Sagem business to increase the profits of Johnson Controls for tax year 2002.

Johnson Controls executives have defined the entering of Sagem, inside their group of car systems, «perfectly in line with the group’s own growth strategies».

Sagem’s know how is mostly concentrated in system software and engineering, which can define the architecture of car electric/electronic systems, the modules of which include engine and structure controllers; multimedia and telecom systems; instrument information displays clusters.
