With directive 89/655 the European council has aimed to regularise over Europe the necessary norms to guarantee minimum safety and health levels in the use of working equipment.

The norms, relative to the minimum safety and health levels for the use of work equipment by workers during their job, concern workers but above all employers, who must supply the necessary guarantees.
