Teligent expands into the world

Teligent recently announced two deals and one new product to expand their exports into the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the USA. In particular, the Swedish company has signed a deal with the Romanian telecommunications operator Connex. The order is for a Mobile IN-based VPN system part of the Teligent Mobile Office concept, to be delivered during the second half of this year.

The mobile IN-based VPN system aims to strengthen Connex's leading position in the Romanian market. The IN platform creates an environment that will enable Connex to develop new services as well as adapt and further elaborate existing services faster and more efficiently than before. This competitive edge will place Connex in an ideal position to meet the market's requirements for new advanced services.

Teligent has also entered a partnership with a German supplier of cutting-edge technology who will market Teligent's product in the Middle Eastern market, thereby strengthening Teligent's reach and offering in this expanding region. The contract is for delivery of solutions for a VPN, personal numbers, voice mail and VIP services. The partnership has already generated new business through the signing of a first contract with a Middle East operator.

Finally, the Swedish company has studied a solution that will revolutionize the use of SMS-messaging in the US. The new solution, called Nabla Messaging Gateway (NMG), supports bi-directional text messages between mobile users whether they utilize the Cellular Messaging Teleservice available on CDMA and TDMA networks or the Short Message Service (SMS) available on GSM and iDEN networks. Therefore, the introduction of the NMG puts an end to the lack of interoperability between different operators and networks, one of the key factors keeping SMS from being as successful as it is on the European market.
