LCD Controllers

STMicroelectronics has introduced new Liquid Crystal Display driver ICs that complete the company's comprehensive range of semiconductor products for cellular phones.

Called STE2000 and STE2001, the new chips integrate a complete controller/driver for 65x128 column black and white graphic liquid crystal displays (LCDs). Low power consumption and a very high level of integration make these chips suitable for compact battery powered products including all types of cellphone, music players and portable games.

Small size and the absence of external components also make the STE2000/1 suitable for chip-on-glass and chip-on-flex assembly techniques, which are now the mainstream in these applications. ST also plans to introduce future display driving products for gray scale and color twisted nematic (STN) displays.
