Doubling EEPROM density

Xicor has announced the availability of integrated circuits that double the density of EEPROM storage with the introduction of two new 512 kbit devices: X24512 and X24513.

These two new serial two wire devices, double the quantity of data that can be stored in the electronic systems without increasing the number and the overall dimensions of the components.

For example, portable telephones producers use EEPROM storage units to keep production codes, identifying details of the caller and user specified telephone numbers: with the new Xicor storage units it will be possible to store the double of telephone numbers compared to today or add other functions that require access to anon-volatile memory.

Both models, X24512 and X24513, are organised in 64 k x 8 banks and are available in both 2,5 V and 5,5 V versions.
