Whirlpool Europe forecasts for 2001 are positive, both for that which concerns an increase in sales and an increase in productivity.Home appliances sales should record an increase of 2%; whereas, concerning an increase of productivity, there is the intention to increase the number of products distributed on the market, introducing new products with Whirlpool and Bauknecht brands.
The improvement of the operation margins should compensate for the negative trend of the proceeds, compared to the previous year, recorded during the first three months. Reasons for the decrease: sales slowdown, competition on prices, and the unfavourable impact of the exchange rate.
A part from the negative influence of currency conversions, compared to year 2000 the net proceeds are subject to a loss of 3%.
In the first three months of 2001, however, operation margins have surpassed by 2.1% those of the last three months of 2000.
