Italy is first USA provider of cable machines
Cabling in the United States is being made with cables produced with Italian machines. Italy is as a matter of fact USA's first machine and accessory provider for the manufacturing of metallic wires, electric cables and optic fibers.
A press release from Ice confirms it observing that towards USA, during the year 2000, a share of 20,5% of North America's total imports, for a value of 33,5 million dollars. After Italy, United States' most important partners are Finland, Germany and Japan.
The sector represents, in Italy, a reality of great significance. With a turnover of 1.400 billion lira, and a hundred or so active companies, Italy ha conquered leadership positions on an international level.
Italian exports' share on the overall turnover reaches almost 70%.
The main outlet markets are Europe, in which 42% of the total flows in, followed by North America, where the share went from 1995's 12% to 2000's 25%. In particular, the United States' market represents a desirable opportunity for Italian companies.
Ice estimates that in the Usa the sector's demand will have reached 23 billion dollars in the year 2000 and, according to USA's Wire Association International forecasts, it should reach the value of 25 billion dollars by the end of 2003.
