Electronica 2002, the 20th International Trade Fair for Components and Assemblies in Electronics will take place at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 12 to 15 November 2002. 2 846 national and international exhibitors (more than eighty Italian, among which Anie) will be presenting their innovations and systems solutions in 14 halls. The organizers are reckoning with 85 000 visitors from Germany and abroad.
With the sectors Automotive Innovation, Embedded Systems, and the World of MEMS, electronica 2002 presents the electronics markets of the future and underlines its role as the world's key trade fair for this industry.
The world's leading electronics companies present their automotive solutions in the Automotive Innovation user forum in Hall C2. The main fields of emphasis are applications for telematics, bus systems, safety and accident prevention, and the 42-volt electrical system. The 3rd International Congress for the 42-volt PowerNet, with the title "ready for mass production", will take place from 12 to 14 November in the International Congress Center Munich ICM.
In order to strengthen the Embedded Systems area still further, the Embedded Systems Congress will take place in Munich from 11 to 13 November. For the organizers of electronica, this achieves a long-term strategic goal.
Microsystems are one of the enabling technologies, with an above-average rate of growth. Mobile phones, tyre-pressure monitoring systems, or fibre-optic data transmission: the present-day world of electronics integrates mechanical, electrical, and optical structures. electronica presents the specialists for this market segment at the World of MEMS.
The largest area is occupied by semiconductors, followed by passive components and connectors. This order reflects roughly their relative importance on the market. In spite of a general consolidation in the market place, some sectors now occupy more space than before; for example PCBs (+19%), passive components (+19%), and displays (+25%).
A highlight at electronica 2002 will be the traditional electronica forum on the first day of the fair. Top-level representatives of the international electronics industry will discuss the topic "Semiconductor Industry: who are the future creators of demand?"
This year's electronica will again be an international barometer: this is where the innovations and trends are presented, and where the industry gains new impetus. Attendance has remained stable, in spite of the difficult market situation. (ph. Schelbert).
