FlashFlex51 Evaluation Kit

The SST89CK79EVK Evaluation Kit provides immediate evaluation of SST's single-chip SST89C5x microcontroller. This FlashFlex51 family of microcontrollers combine the industry standard 8051 core with 20/36 KB of SST's proprietary SuperFlash EEPROM technology. Each kit contains a kitCON-FlashFlex51 Baseboard that features the SST89C58 and all the hardware needed to download user code into both the on-chip Flash and the external 128 KB SuperFlash memory, and provides a breadboard area for user interface circuitry. All other hardware components needed for operation, including a DB-9 serial cable and AC power adapter, are provided with the evaluation kit.

The kitCON-FlashFlex51 is also designed for use with the optional SST89CK79ZAB ZIF Adapter Board, which enables easy programming of any on-chip Flash within the SST89C5x microcontroller. The ZIF Adapter Board (ZAB) houses three different Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) sockets to support programming any of the FlashFlex51 controller package types: 40-pin PDIP, 44-pin PLCC and 44-pin TQFP. The ZAB mounts directly onto the Baseboard. Additionally, the ZAB can also be used to test programmed controllers as well as future derivatives of the SST89C5x family. With the ZAB mounted on the Baseboard, jumper options are provided to allow operation by either the SST89C58 on the Baseboard or SST89C5x on the ZAB.

The kit-included CD-ROM provides complete documentation and evaluation software development tools to accompany the hardware. Hardware schematics and a Getting Started Manual are also provided, offering several example programs for use with the included software tools.
