ESI Group offers a number of simulation software called PAM-CRASH 2000, PAM-FLOW 2000 and PAM-STAMP 2000. These versions, designed mainly for the motoring and transportation industry, reach high level performances necessary for complex simulation applications, such as collision tests, aeroacoustic, aerodynamic and pressing simulation.
In the motoring industry ever more detailed models are used, improving the understanding of crash test simulation. In other transportation sectors, such as the railway or aeronautic sectors, simulation models are regularly used, because of the size of the structures to be studied.
The parallel calculation is obviously the optimal solution for this type of application. The MPP versions of the ESI Group programs have given proof of their efficacy reducing by 15 calculation times 15 and 300 times the costs, in less than 5 years.
In MPP environments, the simulation model is divided in various parts, each of which is entrusted to a specific processor. This way, the load can be distributed on many processors.
