Condensers and technologyKemet (distributed by Silverstar) has developed a series of condensers that integrate three different technologies. The combination of advantages of multilayer ceramic condenser technologies, of steel electrolytic and, finally of solid state tantalum condensers that give optimal performances both on a mechanical and cost level.
This way the number of components is reduced offering a more economical solution compared to ceramic condensers. The new line includes tantalum condensers, in SMT technology, called KO Kap. Their particularity consists in the replacement of manganese oxide of the cathode with a conducive organic polymer.
The result is an extremely low ESR value component (from 10% to 50% less compared to the traditional technology), characterized also by an excellent behavior at high frequencies.
These devices inhibit ignition phenomena typical of standard tantalum condensers, owing to the lack of an oxygen source (manganese oxide) that feeds the combustion caused by a possible short circuit on the condenser. Condensers are available in the range from 100°F to 330°F with voltage from 4 V to 10 V .
