I.C. SAW filtersFujitsu Microelectronics has announced a new family of SAW filters designed specifically for the Wideband CDMA market. With the new chips ready to go into mass production, the company is simply waiting for the UMTS handsets for these devices of the future to be available.
This new family, part of the well-known F6 series, targets high frequency (1.95 and 2.14GHz) wideband applications. These piezoelectric filters are based on LiTaO3 and are supplied in small 3mm2 and 2.5mm x 2mm surface mounted packaging of less than 1mm high, which provides high stability and performance, making it the ideal solution for the new W-CDMA applications.
Developed in Japan, the brand new devices provide excellent performance with regards to an insertion loss of less than 4dB and high stop band attenuation. With an impedance of 50 Ohms, no external matching circuits are required. SAW filters are offered in different sized packages in order to satisfy different requirements, whether of compatibility or size.
