Multi-Service Access Controller for xDSL
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe has developed the MB86676 Multi-Service Access Controller chip to provide Segmentation and Reassembly (SAR) and Data Path Control functions within xDSL enabled set-top boxes and other xDSL Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).At the core of the MB86676 Access Controller chip is a 32-bit embedded ARC microprocessor with software to control all data transfers and traffic management through the integrated hardware. This powerful 100 MIPs processor delivers the performance demanded to enable higher level application specific protocol manipulation. The processor also allows for host control of Fujitsu's MB86670 KeyWaveTM ADSL Modem or other network interface device via the generic memory interface.
The processor is supported by a dedicated hardware SAR engine with embedded local RAM and address translation. The SAR function supports AAL5 (ATM Adaptation Layer 5) and manages ATM Forum CBR and UBR traffic classes on up to 32 Virtual Circuits (VCs).
Layer 5) ed è in grado di gestire classi di traffico ATM Forum C BR e UBR su un massimo di 32 circuiti virtuali (VCs).
