Caller identification chipMitel Semiconductor offers MT88E46A, an integrated circuit that performs the functions of a telephone receiver with caller id and call alert.
The new component has higher performance that those defined internationally to ensure maximum reliability in devices dedicated to the caller id service (Caller m).
Among usual applications for the new chip are traditional and wireless telephones, Internet telephones, answering machines, accessories to display the number of the caller and computerised telephone instruments (CTI). A monolithic device to reduce costs.
MT88E46A contains all telephone circuits required for a physical level complete solution, among which the CAS detector that complies with Bellcore specifications, FSK 1200 baud BelI 202/CCITT V .23 demodulator and a simple microcontroller interface.
Owing to two entry operational amplifiers, MT88E46A enables the connection of vocal entries of an integrated circuit, Tip/Ring contacts of the line or the telephonic fork (hybrid transformer) to carry out in the best way the call alert and caller id functions. The higher class CAS detector greatly reduces the possibility of false signals (a condition known as "talkoff') or mis-identification (known as "talkdown").
The component also includes some circuits dedicated to energy management, among which the passage to low consumption function modes for the FSK, CAS o of the entire chip’s functions whenever possible. The integrated circuit MT88E46A is suitable for applications that use a single power tension (with variations of 10% ) between 3 and 5 V.
