The Extruder

Extrusion is a process in which a material is forced through a die, with material that solidifies immediately to produce a continuous length with constant section. The classic example of the toothpaste tube explains the concept perfectly.

The production of plastic goods by means of extrusion represents a significant percentage of the total production of plastics products. Widely-used industrial goods such as compound, sections, tubes, plates, and films, all start from the basic extrusion process, and are then diversified by work processes performed by lines and drawplates of various types and complexities.

The starting point is always the extruded material, and the quality of the finished product is inseparably linked to the consistency of physical parameters (temperature and pressure) controlled inside the extruder. The stability and precision of the temperature controlled in the various zones of the cylinder, pump, and head, and the stability of extruder head pressure, are the main objectives of the control loops used.
