In UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply, also known as continuity groups) units, a periodic battery status check is required, in order to ensure perfect operation in case of sudden need.Asita's 3550 tester carries out this type of control, on lead batteries, maintaining the same UPS functions operative. It simultaneously carries out internal resistance, voltage and battery temperature measurement, elaborates data with reference to internal resistance limit values (minimum and maximum) set by the operator and to comparative voltage values set according to the type of battery that is analysed.
The final evaluation of the battery status (good, bad, uncertain) is communicated to the operator through the lighting of LEDs and the display of the detected data. In actual fact however, since for each UPS unit there are more than one batteries installed, in series or parallel, the tester carries out the control of the status of each battery and elaborates the recorded data to determine the overall system efficiency.
The 3550 model uses an internal memory which can carry out 260 measurements and testing sessions. The connection with a Hioki printer 9203 provides for data elaboration in various numerical and graphical formats. The 3555 model, similar to the 3550, è is specific for smaller batteries, Lithium-Cadmium like those of mobile phones.
